A man afflicted by multiple personality disorder (in this case, 23 personalities) kidnaps three teenage girls for mysterious reasons. The movie, starting from the opening credits, is an obvious homage to Hitchcock's Psycho and Norman Bates' split personality, and while even some moments remind of Alien's claustrophobic chase scenes, the story has an originality of its own. That alone would've made this a great movie. But then ... the very final scene will blow you away, and hints that Shyamalan may be constructing an Avengers-type world of his own. After all, his movies all happen in Philadelphia, don't they?
PS: And with this and The Witch, consider Anya Taylor-Joy already a star.

In terms of medicine aspect I read this good article in CNN. In the past I believed DID is mostly cinematic and in real it is rare or truly majority are cases of malingering indeed but here in the statement of Dissociation society on movie it was reported the prevalence is 1-3 % in US and according to their research the patients with ddx of DID are not violent at all.
